About Mike

Born and raised in Seneca Falls and have lived here my entire life. I reside at 7 Seneca Lake and live in the same house that my father was born and raised. I am the youngest of three brothers born to Anthony Ferrara and Jane Fioreli. My two older brothers are Tony and David. I have been married for the past 30 years to the former Frances Blake and I have one stepson (Steven) and two beautiful grandchildren.

My father passed away when I was 5-years-old and my mother raised 3 children on her own. She taught us the value of hard work, family, and education. Our family struggled economically but through my mother’s guidance and love we have all become contributing members of society.

I graduated from Mynderse Academy in 1975 and the University of Pittsburgh in 1979 with a degree in secondary education. I attended SUNY Cortland in their Reading Education program and received a Maters in Education from SUNY Brockport and Masters in Administration also from SUNY Brockport.

I started my teaching career at Mynderse Academy in 1980 as a long-term substitute and then went to the Geneva City School District from 1984-1997 as a Secondary Social Studies teacher. In addition, I coached many athletic teams in Seneca Falls, Geneva and Waterloo throughout my career and was the girls’ basketball coach for Mynderse Academy for 18 years winning 6 Section V Championships. In 1998 I took the position of Assistant Principal in the Waterloo Central School District and became the Middle School Principal in 2001. During my tenure, Waterloo Middle School was recognized as a National School of Character in 2009. I was the Middle School Principal until 2013 and then became the High School Principal until my retirement in 2015. For the past 4 years I have been working as the General Manager of Seneca Falls Country Club.

I am uniquely qualified to provide the leadership needed for the community of Seneca Falls. I have vast experience in the management of staff and employees and working with the many students and their families throughout my career. I know how to collaborate with people and manage crisis situations.
